The Summer Camp of College of Business of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics 2021 successfully held

The Summer Camp of College of Business (COB), Shanghai University of Finance and Economics was successfully held online from 2nd to 4th of July 2, 2021. More than 400 college students from all over the country signed up for this summer camp. After a strict selection, a total of 60 students were admitted to the international business summer camp, and among them, 33 students entered the academic summer camp. Many of them are from the well-known “Double-first-class” universities in China.

Yu Dianfan, Assistant Dean of COB, Li Jinsong, Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Wei Hang, Associate Executive Dean of COB, hosted the opening ceremony of the summer camp.

 

At the opening ceremony, Wei Hang, Associate Executive Dean of COB, welcomed outstanding students from all over the country on behalf of the school and made a brief introduction about COB of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics from multiple aspects, includingtalent cultivation, academic research, faculty team, discipline ranking and internationalization. s, At the end, he made good wishes to the students to obtain excellent results in the summer camp.

Li Jinsong, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, also welcomed the students in his speech. He introduced the graduate education in Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in multiple aspects, including its history, discipline ranking, faculty team and practice education, and expressed his wish that the majority of outstanding students could join the family of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and grow up to be a talent withvirtue and knowledge to serve for the economy and the times”.

Yu Dianfan, Assistant Dean of COB,  introduced the development of the master’s programs in COB, the curricula, international exchanges and employment prospects,  to help students gain a more in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the Master of International Business program and the academic postgraduate programs.

Bian Xiuying from the Shandong University and Wu Jiale from the University of International Business and Economics made a speech as representatives of the summer camp participantsrespectively. , Then, the summer camp participants took a virtual tour to the History Museum of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and the Business Museum, to learn more about  Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and its centennial business education.

For the academic postgraduate programs, faculty representatives made a brief introduction of each department from multiple aspects, including the department characteristics, talent cultivation, faculty team, development prospect and so on.

 

Zhu Linke, Head of the Department of World Economy and Trade, gave a lecture entitled “The new pattern of international trade and China’s response”. Ju Heng, Head of the Department of Industrial Organization, made a lecture with the title “Anti-monopoly and competition policy”. Yu Dianfan, Assistant dean of COB, gave a lecture on “Industrial structure and policy”. Lin Nan, Head of the Department of Enterprise Management, presented a quick overview of the master’s program in strategy and innovation. Liu Zhiyang, COB Associate Dean, shared his researchon “Social entrepreneurship driven by mixed logic”, while Dong Jing, COB Associate Dean, shared her research on“Strategic management in uncertain times”. Cai Yahua, Deputy Head of the Department of Human Resource, gave aa lecture on the empirical research on human resource management, and Wang Wenbin, Head of the Department of Operations Management, made a lecture on the topic of data-driven decision-making. Wu Fang from the marketing department also made a lecture on the research in  marketing.

Zou Qi, Director of the Master of International Business program, Zou Qi, Director of the Office of teaching and research, systematically introduced the Master of international business program to the students from the perspectives of general enrollment, development methods, teaching characteristics and employment prospects as well as inviting outside experts and scholars to give three academic lectures afterwards. Yang Jianrong, counselor for the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, shared his unique insight on “The path choice for building China’s new development pattern”, and Gan Chunhui, Vice President of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and Vice President of the China Society of Industrial Economics, gave a speech with the title “China’s long-term economic trends and current problems”, onthe economic development trend after the epidemic; Ju Jiandong, Tsinghua Unigroup Chair Professor at Tsinghua University’s Wudaokou School of Finance, led a comprehensive and in-depth study of the Sino-Us trade dispute with the participants.

After a series of significant and engaging activities, such as the opening ceremony, expert lectures and a virtual visit to the SUFE’s History Museum, participants entered we the interview process. Let us look forward to the wonderful performance of the participants in the interviews!
