Press Conference for a Jointly Developed Dual Degree Program of Global MBA between SUFE/UNIL

After more than two years of preparation, on August 2,2022, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Swiss University of Lanne officially signed the Jointly Developed Dual Degree Program of Global MBA between SUFE/UNIL. The program combines the strengths of SUFE's traditional advantage in business disciplines with UNIL’s cutting-edge ideas of international organization management and new business format, to help students develop into business leaders with outstanding global leadership, forward-looking and innovative ideas, and high-level international vision. The program is now in the application stage with early interviews and the first batch of students planning to enroll in the 2023. In order to get a better understanding of the features and enrollment policies of the Jointly Developed Dual Degree Program of Global MBA between SUFE/UNIL, the two universities held a press conference on the 27th to present the program and interpret the policies online, comb through frequently asked questions, and answered questions online, surprising the participants.

At the press conference, Wei Hang, Associate Executive Dean of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Business School, first expressed his confidence in the cooperation between the two universities, and explained the Jointly Developed Dual Degree Program of Global MBA between SUFE/UNIL in depth, focusing on the school's history, international accreditation ranking, discipline development advantages and talent development goals, the development vision and construction significance of the program. He said that the partnership was not only a deep collaboration between two top business science universities in the area of talent development, but also a firm initiative of the two institutions to cultivate internationally competitive business leaders with high-level international perspectives. This not only fully caters to the needs of high-level managers in the global market and in-depth development of Chinese and Swiss markets, but also reflects the mission and responsibility of the two universities to promote the development and progress of the global business civilization. He also expressed his hope for the program to get better.

Later, Xu Songwei, executive director of the MBA Centre at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics School of Business, representing Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, made all-round analysis of SUFE, the development status of the MBA program, the characteristics of BOLD, the characteristics of the Jointly Developed Dual Degree Program of Global MBA between SUFE/UNIL, the introduction of the first-year program and the career development for full-time students. He said the program was the first dual-degree Master's program of a Swiss public university in collaboration with a Chinese University and that the two research university had developed great partnership, relying on the strong academic background of their teaching teams, to create a rich, free and practical curriculum for students, and to provide students with an immersive international experience and opportunities for business practice based on the extensive influence and alumni system of the two universities throughout China and Europe. The cross-professional and cross-platform accumulation of resources will bring high value-added career development opportunities for students!

Next, director of the Department of Accounting at the UNIL School of advanced business, Prof. Minyue Dong introduced the Swiss profile, the Business School of UNIL, the UNIL campus and the development of the Global MBA program as a representative of the foreign program. She gave a multi-level and three-dimensional description of UNIL's leading edge in the business field, enterprise and alumni resources, Switzerland's advanced industries, the characteristics of the Global MBA program, the second-year curriculum of the dual degree program, and the common problems of studying abroad, etc. combining her own years of work experience, and explained the advantages of the project from the aspects of study, life and employment prospects. “This is the first time UNIL has entered the Chinese market,” she said. “The cooperation of the two schools will surely open a new chapter in the development of international business leaders.”


Later, Xiong Linman from the global class of full-time MBA 2021 of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Angie Yin Jie from HEC Lausanne, spoke on behalf of the Chinese and Swiss students respectively. They shared their feelings and growth in the learning experience at school with regard to their study and work experience in two universities, and said that this will be invaluable for a lifetime.


Finally, the Jointly Developed Dual Degree Program of Global MBA between SUFE/UNIL 2023 admission policy briefing was held, and Feng Da, admission director of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics MBA Center interpret the policy. She made a detailed interpretation from five aspects: examination process, interview arrangement, class shift interview, admission rules, tuition fees and scholarships. The Jointly Developed Dual Degree Program of Global MBA between SUFE/UNIL plans to enroll about 30 students in the first year of the two-year program. In the first year, students will complete their studies in the SUFE campus, and in the second year, they will study overseas in UNIL. After graduation, students will receive a Master of Business Administration from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, a Master's degree from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and a Global MBA from UNIL in Switzerland. Application to join the program requires completion of pre-interview and graduate admission through the national unified examination.
