College of Business(COB), Shanghai University of Finance and Economics(SUFE) implements the strategy of “Global SUFE” to enhance the level of internationalization and is committed to actively developing and cultivating internationalized talents in the business world. In the recent years, COB has obtained AMBA international accreditation, Chinese Advanced Management Education Accreditation (CAMEA) and AACSB international accreditation successively.


Guided by the mission, COB has established the strategic direction of “long established, finance and economics features, data and technology driven, and global vision” and the long-term strategic objective, which is: “To become a world-renowned business school with distinctive characteristics of finance and economics.”


COB currently enrolls international students in the undergraduate, MIB and full-time MBA programs and has established cooperation with foreign universities in multiple aspects, including developing double-degree programs, international student exchanges, overseas study visits, international academic exchanges, and so forth. SUFE has signed agreements with a number of international financial organizations, such as: Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), IFC of World Bank and BRICS Development Bank, and have developed overseas practice bases in collaboration with the Bank of China , Industrial and Commercial Bank of China to offer students the opportunity to have internship abroad.


In the past few years, COB has witnessed an increase in faculty internationalization year by year. The majority of the core faculty members have the ability to communicate in English and about 45% of them obtained their PhD degree from overseas universities. We also employ distinguished professors from famous foreign universities, who play an important role in promoting the internationalization of the teaching, research and operations management.


During the period of 2015 to 2019, COB’s core faculty members have published 180 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, of which 37 papers were published in international first-tier journals, 62 papers were published in international second-tier journals and 81 papers in other SCI/SSCI journals. The UTD Top Business School Research Ranking shows that SUFE was ranked the 124th globally, the 4th among the business schools in mainland China, for the number of papers published in UTD-24 journals in the period of 2015-2019. In 2019, SUFE was also ranked the 130th for highly-cited papers in economics and business, among the top 1% globally and the first among the Chinese universities of finance and economics. In January 2020, COB, SUFE was ranked the 47th globally, 5th in mainland China in the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking. In addition, COB participated in some international business school rankings to promote the quality improvement. The College was ranked the 5th among business schools in the Asia-Pacific region in the Ranking of 2019-2020 World’s Best Business Schools released by Bloomberg Business Week.


In the future, as a business school based in Shanghai, rooted in China, COB will continue to make efforts to build a first-class, internationally renowned business school with distinctive characteristics of finance and economics, and make contribution in developing business talent, undertaking innovative business research, guiding business leaders and promoting business civilization.
