On May 31, the 2022 SUFE“Voice of Business” summit-the development and cooperation on the bio-pharmaceutical industry between China and Europe in the post-pandemic era was successfully held  live streaming form. This forum focuses on the new trends and orientations of cross-national  bio-pharmaceutical industries due to the rapid development of bio-pharmaceutical industry, The seminar  invites senior experts of the industry and academia to offer keynote speeches displaying the strong ability of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics to integrate science, industry, and education. The scholarly integration aims to grow cutting-edge industrial products and cater to the needs of the time for national economic development in business education. The forum attracted  more than 10000 people in total participating over Zoom Video Conference and Bilibili live synchronization.

The conference began with a speech by Professor Wei Hang, the Executive Vice Dean and Director of the MBA Center of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Dean Wei pointed out that as the  business education and MBA program are the earliest system in our country, the MBA program of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics relies on the privileged discipline characterizing with “Business and Finance”. The school organizes  the integration of academic and industrial resource, and has a strong ability to integrate science, industry and education investment practice in cutting-edge industries including the pharmaceutical industry. As  the present world is going through great changes, the bio-pharmaceutical industry has turned into one of the focal areas of  global scientific and technological revolution along with national strength showcase. Based on the aforementioned background, today's forum aims to explore the opportunities and challenges of China and European bio-pharmaceutical industry in the post-pandemic era contributing to the development of the global bio-pharmaceutical industry. The school and the program additionally look forward to the participation of more experts, scholars, and business leaders to share their experience  in addressing the global governance and innovation challenges for  economic  social development.

This was followed by a speech by Professor Marianne Schmid Mast, the dean of the School of Business at the University of Lanne. According to Dean Marianne Schmid Mast, Switzerland is the center of European life sciences industry, home to pharmaceutical giants such as Hoffmann-la Roche and Novartis, and the thousands of small and medium-scale R & D firms. As a world-reputed Swiss university with the history of  480 years, the University of Lanne has a rigorous scientific research capability in biomedicine sector and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is the premier higher education institution of business education in China. She looks forward to more  cooperation on the basis of existing study-abroad programs between China and the EU to promote economic and cultural exchanges. 

After that, four well-known Chinese and European scholars delivered keynote speeches.. First of all, Mr. Lingyun Gao, the Chairman of Hongyi Investment and visiting scholar of International Economic Development Research Center of Stanford University shared his thoughts on “The internationalization development strategy of Chinese biotechnology enterprises.” Policy are getting changed rapidly  and medical consumption retains under pressure in the post-epidemic era., How can China's biotechnology companies carry better the responsibilities of the times upon their shoulder? Mr. Gao Lingyun interprets the current status of the global bio-pharmaceutical industry in the perspectives of enterprise planning, international business development projects, overseas company layout, and technological innovation, etc. He systematically analyzed the hidden risks of the future development of China's biotechnology enterprises, and places several constructive suggestions.

Mr. Wang Zhi, General Manager of European area of Paizhen Biology analyzed the topic entitled “International development strategy of Chinese biotechnology enterprises”. By analyzing the macro-investment roadmap of the country, he introduced the development status of public and private biological enterprises, and described insightfully the strategic factors and the development trends of bio-pharmaceutical industry from diverse angles  such as socio-cultural and legal issues.

Dr. Pieeer-jean Wipff, the Director of Innovation and Cooperation of Biopole Bioscience Park in Switzerland, delivered a keynote speech on “Biopole Bioscience Park, Switzerland and its incubation service model.” Dr Pieeer-jean Wipff shared the model of life science ecosystems in Switzerland and explained the development process and the vision of Biopole Bioscience Park, leading the audience to have a in-depth understanding of biomedical development in Europe.

Professor Jean-philippe Bonardi, Professor of the School of advanced business at the University of Lanne's and the Director of the Lanne E4s Centre, shared his thoughts on “the impact of Covid-19 on the environment, society, and corporate governance”. Professor Jean-philippe Bonardi systematically explained the impact of human social- economic activities on the environment through data analysis and comparison. He comprehensively analyzed  the development of modern society and corporate governance.

Finally, Professor Xu Songwei, Executive Director of the MBA Center, School of Business at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Professor Dong Minyue, the Director of China Economic and Financial Center at  the University of Lanne , offered a presentation on their cooperation and exchange issues. Director Xu said that Shanghai University of Finance and Economics School will actively pursue a concrete partnership with the School of Advanced Business at the University of Lanne's getting together the topmost academic potencies of the two universities. This partnership aims to cultivate skilled entrepreneurs and managers  based on China who has a global vision incorporating technical application, management, and research. Professor Dong delivered a general introduction to the Swiss cultural environment, economic development, employment situation, Innovation Park, and the University of Lanne. He started from  campus life, curriculum and administration, cultural and sports activities that are the highest concerning issues. He elaborately introduced  the study-abroad projects where the two sides can cooperate with each other and provided a concrete explanation of the plans for cultivating the terms and conditions prospecting a growing number of MBA students from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics will access to the University of Lanne for  effective academic exchanges.

This conveys a successful conclusion of the 2022 SUFE “Voice of Business” forum on the development and cooperation between China and the EU in the post-pandemic era of the bio-pharmaceutical industry.
