Delegation from the School of Economics and Management, Southwest Petroleum University Visits COB, SUFE

A delegation led by Professor Su Hao, Associate Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Southwest Petroleum University, and Associate Professor Pang Jian, Executive Director of its MBA Center, visited the College of Business at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (COB SUFE) for academic research and exchange.Associate Dean Sun Qi, Executive Director of the MBA Center Xu Songwei, and Director of the Office of International Exchange and Accreditation Liu Songge from COB SUFE met with the delegation and held in-depth discussions.The two sides exchanged views on business school international accreditation, MBA education and training, student activities and other related areas.

At the meeting, Associate Dean Sun Qi of COB SUFE extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the School of Economics and Management at Southwest Petroleum University on behalf of the College of Business at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. He briefly introduced COB SUFE’s development history, disciplinary construction, progress in international accreditation, and the operation of its MBA program. He systematically shared the College’s recent practical experience in advancing international accreditation, optimizing its governance system, and enhancing talent cultivation.

By integrating the MBA program, improving its faculty structure, and upgrading the curriculum system, the College has gradually established a comprehensive learning support framework covering undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Meanwhile, it has continued to advance international accreditations such as AACSB, achieving comprehensive improvements in both teaching quality and management standardization.

Associate Dean Su Hao then introduced the overall profile of the School of Economics and Management at Southwest Petroleum University. He noted that relying on the university’s strengths in the energy sector, the school has actively promoted the development of a key laboratory focused on “energy security and low-carbon development,” while continuously exploring progress in discipline construction, research innovation, and international collaboration. He stated that the purpose of this visit was to learn from the advanced practices of the College of Business of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in international accreditation, MBA program operations and international talent cultivation, in order to further promote the School’s high-quality development.

During the interactive session, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as international accreditation processes, Assurance of Learning (AoL) system development, faculty classification and evaluation, and international program collaboration. College of Business of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics shared practical experience in optimizing governance structures and establishing an international advisory board during accreditation, emphasizing that accreditation is not merely about achieving a final result, but also about building robust systems and pursuing continuous improvement. The two sides also exchanged views on specific issues including MBA curriculum design, international student development and operation of dual-degree programs.

This exchange laid a solid foundation for further cooperation between the two business schools. Both parties expressed their intention to further strengthen communication and cooperation, and to jointly explore new paths for the high-quality development of business education.
