During few but exceptional weeks I had to be a part of China Overview course I was amazed. Chinese culture, literature, art and way of life are different from European yet at the same time inspirational. As an enormous fan of history, politics and arts I was pleasantly surprised by the course structure. It wasn’t just passive reading, listening but actual go and see. As I, and in my opinion many fellow students would agree is the best to get to know something new and unknown. To me what mostly stick out is the friendliness of teacher and teaching assistant. They were supportive and patient which I deeply appreciate. Chinese mythology may not be the topic I know the best, but surely calligraphy in Shanghai Museum widen my perspective. If I deeply thought about the whole class, my idea is we have more in common culturally then we are different. It was a great pleasure to spend this time on this course, I’m looking forward to explore more of Chinese culture.

Before learning the course, I have known about China as a neighboring country with close borders and trade partners of export and import between the two countries. During the study, this course is very interesting and I get effective information with regards to the Chinese geography, economy and religion.

We had visited a lot of places such as Shanghai Museum, China Art Museum and Yangshan deep water port. I am amazed with this subject because we have  known a lot of cultural exchange, got to know a lot of geopolitics strategy and economic situation about China. So, this course is very fruitful for international students who doesn’t know about the People’s Republic of China and who would like to know knowledge regarding with the People’s Republic of China.

The course China Overview and its Applications was a positive experience for me since it allowed me to learn more about ancient Chinese civilizations as well as Chinese nationalities.

We discussed the Yangtze River, China's longest river, mountains, and other historical sites. During our studies, we visited historical sites such as the Shanghai Museum, which has many antique stones and bronze, the Yuyuan Garden, which housed a tree that had survived for over 400 years, the China Art Museum, and the Shanghai Yangstan Deep Water Port Area.

Of all of them, the Yangshan Deep Port Area stood out to me since the port is built on an island, demonstrating how technologically sophisticated China is. Overall, I liked every minute of it, beginning in the classroom with an incredible teacher who taught us about China's ancient history and the numerous Dynasties such as Shang, Zhou, Han, Tan, and Qing. This was my first trip to any of these destinations, and I really enjoyed it.
