In 1991, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) was officially approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE) as one of the first nine universities in China to offer MBA programs. Leveraging the comprehensive strengths of both its Business College and the university as a whole, SUFE’s MBA program has spent nearly three decades blazing a trail in higher business education—evolving from scratch to scale, and from a fledgling initiative to an influential brand. Throughout this journey, it has established a modern governance system, which is now widely applied in advancing its core mission, driving inheritance and innovation, and expanding its social impact. Highly recognized by society, the program has nurtured nearly 10,000 alumni, who have made outstanding contributions to China’s economic and social development.
In 2011, the MBA School was restructured and renamed the College of Business (COB). Building on this foundation, SUFE’s MBA and EMBA programs earned accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) in 2012 and China’s Advanced Management Education Accreditation (CAMEA) in 2013, respectively. Further solidifying its global standing, the MBA and EMBA programs under SUFE’s COB were accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 2017—marking its entry into the global elite of business education institutions.
Today, SUFE’s MBA program continues to forge ahead in key areas: optimizing its talent development system, enhancing faculty capacity, expanding international exchange opportunities, deepening industry-academia collaboration, and supporting students’ career advancement. It is committed to developing an MBA program that is “first-class in China and renowned worldwide,” while actively contributing to the dissemination and advancement of global business civilization, as well as the promotion of China’s business wisdom and practices on the international stage.
