College of Business of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE COB) has achieved a major breakthrough in national‑level platform‑project applications, securing two national‑level programs for attracting and utilizing foreign expertise.SUFE COB has thus become one of the few higher‑education institutions in China to host two national‑level foreign‑expert programs simultaneously. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the College’s advancement of disciplinary development and internationalization. It also highlights its robust strengths in exploring international academic frontiers and advancing interdisciplinary innovation.

One of the two initiatives, the "National Demonstration Base for Introducing Talent and Expertise" project, builds upon the "Internationalization Demonstration College Promotion Program" granted to the College back in 2015. At that time, SUFE was China’s sole selected higher‑education institution in the humanities and social‑sciences field for this program. Drawing on this program, the College developed an innovative governance framework for foreign experts and set up key positions including Vice Dean for International Affairs and Joint Department Chairs with overseas partner institutions, injecting top‑tier global intellectual resources into its international‑building endeavors. After years of dedicated progress, the original program successfully passed its final evaluation in 2022 and was upgraded to the "National Demonstration Base for Introducing Talent and Expertise" project. It continues to capitalize on the College’s strengths in aggregating international resources.

The other major initiative, the "111 Talent‑Introduction Base", obtained official approval in 2025. Focusing on the intersection of artificial intelligence with economics and management, it centers on three research directions: intelligent decision‑making, business‑model innovation, and economic regulation. These research streams closely align with international academic frontiers and national strategic priorities. This project represents a landmark achievement of collaborative innovation between SUFE’s College of Business and College of Statistics and Data Science. Leveraging their respective disciplinary strengths, the two colleges have achieved in‑depth integration across research, technology and talent development, demonstrating formidable capabilities in resource integration and interdisciplinary research.

From being China’s only humanities‑and‑social‑sciences institution selected for the Internationalization Demonstration College Promotion Program, to operating two national‑level foreign‑expert platforms today, the College of Business of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics has consistently advanced international‑building initiatives and research innovation with a high‑level strategic vision and rigorous standards. Moving forward, the College will draw on these two platforms to deepen interdisciplinary integration, accelerate the development of international research centers and digital transformation, and keep fostering innovative talents with global competitiveness. Through these endeavors, the College will contribute SUFE‑level insights and the College’s strengths to driving industrial progress and delivering on national‑strategy implementation.
