"Innovation-Led and Capital-Empowered — 2026 Venture Capital Ecosystem Forum & Venture Capital MBA Launch Ceremony" took place at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). Participants exchanged insights on emerging trends linking technological innovation and capital empowerment, and witnessed the official launch of the Venture Capital MBA program offered by the College of Business, SUFE.Hosted by Sun Qi, Associate Dean of the College of Business, the event drew a full house of distinguished guests and attendees. The launch ceremony opened with an address delivered by Xu Min, Party Secretary of the College of Business. She pointed out that a new global technological revolution is gaining momentum, with artificial intelligence reshaping industrial chains across all sectors. The deep integration of innovation, entrepreneurship and venture capital has become a core driving force for accelerating the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, nurturing emerging industries and advancing the transformation and upgrading of the real economy. By co-organizing this forum with the Fund of Funds Research Center and rolling out the Venture Capital MBA program, the College has taken a down-to-earth step to revamp its talent training system in response to industrial demands. The initiative aims to pool resources from industry, academia, research institutes and investment players to build an interconnected venture capital ecosystem, enabling mutual advancement between talent cultivation and industrial growth.Tang Jincao, Founder of the Fund of Funds Research Center and Chairman of Shuimu Capital, followed with a keynote speech. He shared observations on the recovering landscape of China’s investment industry in 2026, highlighting booming sectors including artificial intelligence, big data, nuclear fusion, quantum physics and semiconductors, and noted that the sector is shifting from a short-term rebound to sustained growth. He spoke highly of SUFE’s profound expertise in finance and economics education as well as its extensive alumni network. The keynote session featured four heavyweight speakers who delivered in-depth industry insights and hands-on experience.Lü Tongxuan, Deputy General Manager of the National Green Development Fund, presented a speech titled Patient & Long-term Benevolent Capital to Fuel High-quality Green Development. He systematically unpacked the logic and real-world practices of green investment, stating that the National Green Development Fund positions itself as an industry pacesetter focusing on three core tracks: green fuels, new energy storage and circular economy. Drawing on landmark projects such as the Erhai Lake ecological restoration, follow-up works of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, Shanghai Electric’s green methanol initiative and China Fusion Energy Co., Ltd., he illustrated the core investment philosophy of deploying patient, long-term and responsible capital.Xu Yerong, Vice President of Shanghai State-owned Capital Investment Co., Ltd., delivered a speech named Being Discoverers, Connectors and Creators of Value in Tech Investment. Funds of funds can generate steady returns by navigating market cycles and diversifying investments across multiple dimensions, while functioning as amplifiers, connectors and catalysts to align national strategic priorities with industrial advancement.Cheng Fang, President of Shanghai Guohe Modern Service Industry Private Equity Fund Management Co., Ltd., gave a speech titled Charting the Course to Empower Tomorrow: Guohe’s Practices in Capital-backed Technological Innovation. He put forward a set of investment principles anchored by "three roadmaps" (fundraising, investment and industrial attraction) alongside "one guiding principle and two underlying logics". He acknowledged SUFE’s long-standing reputation as a cradle for financial professionals, and expressed anticipation that the Venture Capital MBA program will cultivate China’s first cohort of systematically trained, specialized practitioners for the venture capital sector.

Appointment of Industry Practitioners as Mentors & Program Overview

A special appointment ceremony was held to name seven industry veterans as practice mentors for the Venture Capital MBA program: Tang Jincao, Wu Fei, Yang Bin, Cheng Fang, Gao Hongqing, Chen Sijia and Liu Sheng.Subsequently, Zhou Zhao, Associate Professor of the Department of Strategy and Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the College of Business, gave a full breakdown of the Venture Capital MBA program. The program targets forward-looking leadership talents who possess in-depth know-how of technology, industries, capital and corporate management. Spanning 2.5 years, it adopts a four-module integrated curriculum framework: core management modules, core venture capital modules, specialized track modules and integrated practical modules. The program implements a dual-mentor model pairing academic supervisors with senior VC practitioners throughout students’ studies, and builds a comprehensive support system linking industry mentors, dedicated VC practice bases and a venture capital club.

Roundtable Dialogue: Navigating Shifts and Charting Future Growth

Hosted by Cai Danfeng, Founding Partner of Bailian Zhigao, the roundtable discussion revolved around the theme Sci-tech Innovation & Private Equity in China: Shifts, Opportunities and Paths Forward. Six panelists joined in-depth exchanges: Liu Zhiyang, Professor of the Department of Strategy and Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the College of Business; Gao Hongqing, Founding Partner & CEO of Bailian Zhigao; Kang Ming, CEO of Shanghai Sci-Tech Innovation Fund; Chen Sijia, General Manager of Jiading Angel Fund; Liu Sheng, Advisory Managing Director at Partners Group; and Zhang Jian, Senior Managing Director of Investment Department III at China Insurance Investment Fund.
