Delegation from Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow Visits College of Business, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics

On November 27th, a 3-person delegation led by Anthony Devine, Associate Dean of Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, visited College of Business, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (COB SUFE). The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including the advancement of joint programs, talent development models, as well as the opportunities and challenges confronting business schools in the global context. Professor Lin Nan, Director of the Department of Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Academic Director of MBA Center, received the guests, and staff members from the Office of International Exchange and Accreditation also joined the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Lin Nan extended a warm welcome to Associate Dean Anthony Devine and his delegation, and provided a comprehensive overview of the College of Business, covering areas such as discipline development, faculty strength, and talent cultivation. She pointed out that SUFE COB and the University of Glasgow’s Adam Smith Business School had officially signed a cooperation agreement on the "MBA+X" program in September 2021, marking the start of deep collaboration between the two institutions in talent training and academic exchange. She hoped that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further consolidate the existing cooperation achievements, expand the scope of cooperation, and promote mutually beneficial results between the two schools at a higher level. Associate Dean Anthony Devine expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from COB, and gave a detailed introduction to the characteristics and advantages of Adam Smith Business School in talent training, curriculum design, and international cooperation. He stated that the University of Glasgow attaches great importance to cooperation with Chinese universities, and particularly recognizes the strength of COB of SUFE in business education and research innovation. He looks forward to building on the existing “MBA+X” program to develop more diverse and in-depth forms of cooperation, thereby creating broader international development opportunities for both students and faculty members.Afterward, participants drew on their respective institutional practices to exchange views on topics such as optimizing admissions processes of international cooperation programs, addressing the transformation and challenges of business education in a globalized environment, and enhancing students’ cross-cultural competitiveness.
